Armillaria mellea, commonly known as the Honey Fungus, is a parasitic mushroom that grows on trees and woody plants, often forming large colonies. Recognizable by its honey-colored caps and white to yellowish gills, this fungus can cause root rot in trees but is also valued for its edibility and medicinal properties when properly prepared. It is found in temperate regions across the world, primarily growing in clusters at the base of trees or on decaying wood.
